I’m a UX writer and designer who loves books. I’ve written for Microsoft, Google, and Oracle. I also do ghostwriting.
Should this be in the first person or third person? What would a reader want to know in the first 3 seconds? How can I make it interesting? Does it need to be interesting? Does this look like too many words? Are you even reading this still?
These are a few of the things I think about. My most relevant work experience is below.
Portfolio available on request.
Google, Jul – Dec 2024
At Google Search (contract role) I helped train the LLM to give optimal responses. We reviewed and edited the AI Overviews which are a part of Search results. I wrote ideal responses that were used to train it further. My focus was on the English responses for India as I understand the culture, context and issues that are relevant to search results. I also did UX Writing for Google Search features.
Microsoft, May 2021 – Sep 2023
As the first UX Writer in Microsoft, India, I collaborated with a large design and product team to design copy, messaging, naming, notifications and settings in Microsoft Teams. I created visibility and advocated for the discipline and helped other teams hire writers in India. I built an introductory course to UX Writing which I presented within Microsoft and to external audiences.
Google, Dec 2020 – Apr 2021
As the first UX writer in Google Pay, India (contract), I worked on content for several key features. I ensured that the language could be understood by a range of users across small businesses and merchants. I also wrote the content guide for Google Pay Merchant, and I collaborated with two other writers on the Google Pay India Word List, a lexicon developed specially for India.
Oracle, Nov 2018 – Oct 2020
At Oracle, I worked on a 600-page documentation for Benefits, one of the largest features in Oracle’s cloud platform. I separated one large guide into two shorter guides based on different roles, the end user and the administrator. As part of this process I improved the design, ease of reading, and visual representation of complex concepts.
Steta 2012–2016
I co-founded and ran Steta, a writing consultancy with a partner. Over four years, we were able to demonstrate that clear and concise language can solve problems and have real impact on a business of any size. I listen to clients, customers or teammates to understand what they want, and design solutions with words.
